BT Vision

BT is closing down its BT Vision service.

Customers will be able to switch to a newer, and improved, YouView-based service, and obtain a new set-top box (at no extra cost) if they re-contract their TV and Broadband for 18 months. YouView+ boxes are worth around £199.

YouView offers similar features to the BT Vision service. You can watch TV programmes you’ve missed using catch-up, but you'll enjoy better search functionality and get access to increased On Demand content from BBC iPlayer, 4 On Demand, Demand 5 and ITV Player.

If you decide not to swap to a YouView+ box, the current BT Vision service will stop working by 30 June 2014. The box will no longer work for Freeview, On Demand or recordings, and you won't be able to watch any pre-recorded programmes either.

If you are making the switch to the new box should watch any recordings on your old BT Vision box, and note down any scheduled recordings to set-up on the new box. You’ll lose these once you swap to YouView.
