Switchdigital, the owners of London II multiplex, is to bring DAB+ services to London.

In conjunction with Arqiva and broadcast software developers Factum Radio Scope, Switchdigital will provide London’s first permanent stereo quality DAB+ channel, They are currently looking for radio broadcasters who are interested in DAB+ services.

The creation of this channel follows the launches of the UK’s first national DAB+ radio services, Jazz FM, Magic Chilled and Fun Kids, earlier this year. A number of small-scale multiplexes are also on DAB+.

Piers Collins, Director of Switchdigital, told RadioToday: “This new DAB+ slot provides a great opportunity for a fresh, distinctive radio service to reach this key market and exploit the growth of DAB+ compatible radio sets harnessed to the capacity efficiency benefits of the DAB+ standard.”

Switchdigital’s London II multiplex broadcasts Absolute Radio 70s, BBC Radio London, Chris Country, Jazz FM, Kerrang!, LBC London News, Mi-Soul, Panjab Radio, Radio Sputnik, Sout Al Khaleej, Spectrum, talkSPORT London, The Arrow and UCB 2
